ORAL APPLIANCE THERAPY FOR OSA
Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT), may help people who suffer from simple snoring or mild sleep apnea.
A dentist or orthodontist can fabricate a custom-fit appliance to treat your snoring or sleep apnea. The device will adjust your lower jaw and your tongue to help keep your airways open while you sleep.
If you use OAT, speak with your physician or dentist if you have discomfort or pain while using the device. You may need periodic office visits so your dentist can adjust your appliance to an optimal fit. RHS collaborates with sleep-focused dentists throughout Canada and we may be able to provide a recommendation regarding OAT.
A common concern with those with an interest in oral appliances is unlike CPAP therapy, you are not able to trial an oral appliance before making purchase.
